Vehicle Smashes into the Cache County Jail
March 16, 2018
Early this morning, Kenneth Romine, age 49, from Logan, Utah, had a medical event while operating his vehicle in the Cache County Jail parking lot. This resulted in him driving through the security fence and crashing his vehicle into the jail wall. Deputies at the scene were able to talk with Kenneth Romine, and he was taken to a hospital in stable condition for further evaluation.
The vehicle extensively damaged sections of the fence but left no damage to the wall. Inmates on the other side of the wall were still fast asleep after the accident.
Cache County Sheriff Chad Jensen said, “The safety and security of our staff and inmates are a top priority. The design of the fence and the building served their purpose that not even the inmates on the other side of the wall woke up.”
Cement barricades and a temporary fence are currently being installed. There are no security concerns caused by this accident.
