Plane Crash in Cache County

PRESS RELEASE 

UPDATE: The investigation has been turned over to the FAA and all future press releases will come from them.

At appx. 10:15 am today, the Cache County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a plane crash appx. 4 -5 miles East of Hardware Ranch in Blacksmith Fork Canyon.  The crash was witnessed by a pilot in another plane. Once notified of the crash, a Life Flight helicopter was dispatched to the scene to check on the condition of the pilot.  Sheriff’s deputies and Sheriff’s Search and Rescue responded to the scene as well. Life Flight medics were able to stabilize the pilot and he was flown to a Wasatch Front area hospital. Sheriff’s Office Investigators were flown to the crash site by the Utah Dept. of Public Safety helicopter to start the investigation.  The FAA has been notified and will respond to the scene as well. At this time there is no information as to the cause of the crash and no information is being released concerning the pilot.  More information will be available as the investigation continues.
